Finding someone you trust to handle your investments and guide your financial future is

no easy feat. However, there are many ways to find an excellent financial advisor who

will help you on your journey to financial freedom. Here’s what to look for in a financial

advisor.

Look for a CFP

CFP stands for a Certified Financial Planner. The most qualified financial advisors have

their CFP. It is a licensing that requires mandatory classes and testing. In order to keep their CFP active they must maintain continuing education each year. A financial advisor who has invested their time and money into becoming a CFP is serious about what they do and are very knowledgeable.

Word of Mouth Referrals

A great way to get an idea of what type of character your financial advisor has is to

speak to some of their current or former clients. Don’t simply read the testimonies on

their website. Ask for the contact information of some of their clients. Potential financial

advisors should have no hesitancy about sharing a few references. Speak with these

previous clients to get an idea of how they’ve handled business in the past.

Continuing Education

The finance industry is ever changing and evolving and you want a financial advisor who

is kept up to date. Ask your financial advisor what type of continuing education they have

invested in to stay abreast in their career field.

Specialization

When looking for the right financial advisor considers what area they specialize in.

Perhaps you need the advice of someone well versed in business ownership or handling

inheritances. Find a financial advisor who is well versed on your specific financial needs.

Questions to Ask a Financial Advisor:

• What services do you offer?

• How much do you charge for your services?

• What licenses and credentials do you have?

• Are you willing to provide a sample financial plan?

• How do you approach investments?

• Will I be working exclusively with you, or with other partners in your firm?

• How much contact do you keep with your clients?

It is understandable that people want to find a financial advisor they can trust.
