As a small business owner, you know how difficult it can be sometimes to effectively market your business without breaking the bank! As such, there are a number of ways to get your name and your product out there. First, create a marketing plan that outlines both where your business currently stands and where you’d like to get to. Second, make time to do some in-person networking—and never underestimate the power of face to face interaction. Lastly, take some time to establish a social media presence with your business and ask past and current clients to write a review/share your posts. If you can accomplish these three things, you’ll find that the number of leads for your business will grow and you won’t have broken the bank in the process!

Create a Marketing Plan

Every business, no matter the size, should have a marketing plan in place for how they want to market their business! Marketing plans are multi-layered and are not something that should be overlooked or rushed to completion. In order to build an effective plan, you should ask yourself the following questions about your business: Who is my target audience? How do I/can I reach them? What about my business/product will interest them? These are just a few of the questions that you should be able to answer through your plan, but they lay the foundation for the entire understanding of how you plan to market your business. After all, before you can put together a marketing campaign you have to understand how you plan on marketing!

Network in Person

With the advent of social media and more and more correspondence taking place via phone and email, it’s important to remember the impact of face-to-face interaction! As a small business owner, interacting in person with your clients is something you’ll spend a lot of time doing, so why try to generate some leads in the same way? If you have a product to sell, consider renting a booth at a trade show! If you’re trying to get your name out there, don’t be afraid to hand out your business card upon meeting someone! Word of mouth isn’t always considered a great way to get your name out there, but it can be incredibly effective for a small business!

Establish a Social Media Presence

Social media is growing in popularity each day, and if you’re not already marketing on social media then you’re behind! Social media is a great way to quickly and effectively connect with leads and get your name out there with minimal cost. As such, depending upon who your target audience is, you may place a greater or lesser value on social media marketing, but it’s still something that you should utilize. Millennials as a whole are active on social media, and as their generation continues to advance in age and become the dominant portion of the adult and working population, social media marketing will continue to be effective!
